Easter

Okay so this is exactly what I was worried would happen- it is now nearly a month since my last post and 2 weeks since Easter. Better late than never, right? Well we had a really wonderful Easter filled with fun, family, and of course the Lord! Shawn has been attending classes weekly since August and doing a lot of self reflection and studying for RCIA to become a Catholic. Easter Vigil is when all the "elect" who have been going through RCIA get baptized, receive First Communion, and Confirmation. The mass was really nice and a great way to celebrate the Lord and His sacrifice for us. It was really awesome to watch so many join the Catholic church with a renewed (or new) faith! I am so proud of Shawn and his commitment to this transformation. He is not only setting a great example for his son but has been an example for me as he has reminded me how to make prayer and fellowship more integral in our lives. Being able to share this with him has already made a positive impact on our family and I know it will continue to. The mass was maybe a little long for Conrad's taste, but as always he was so good and just looked around for the first hour and then slept for the rest (till 1am)!

Newly baptized! (with his sponsor Rob)
On Easter Sunday, we went to my Mom's house for a nice dinner with Mom, Shawn's family, Alice, and Kevin. It was a beautiful day and so nice to have everyone together for Conrad's first Easter. I brought this yummy carrot bundt cake that I just had to show.

Monday we had my Dad and Jess and her family over for an Easter dinner that I prepared.  I didn't get any pictures but the food and company were great! The nieces are so good with Conrad and were glad to get to play with his toys!  All 3 days added up to a busy but really wonderful first Easter as family of three!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3
